No all the places are the same as your home town, or your home country. If you are planning to travel to places like Africa, to do your gap year, you need to be ready. Make sense? The whole idea is to have a safe time and to be healthy, you don’t want to be sick… because being sick in your gap year sucks a lot !
You need to make sure you visit your doctor as soon as possible to understand what sort of vaccinations and medicine you may need to travel to the region of the world where you are planning to go. Ask your doctor to give you a general health check up, make sure you order any drugs that you need and purchase some extra vitamin supplements , you want to be as healthy as possible during your gap year trip.

Gap Years are fun, but you need to be smart and organize your trip well. Be wise with your time plan.
Once you have decided which overseas voluntary work package and/or which country you want to go to, then you need to start studying your options. The question is: when is the best time for you to do this things?
These may seem like a silly point, like a very easy decision in your Gap Year Planning, but think twice.
To start, you will start thinking about the perfect time to take your gap year. I know if you are going to travel abroad and travelling during the monsoon season may be that will not be the most cool idea. But with this whole thing of climate change, don’t forget that weather is becoming more varied and unpredictable in many of our destinations.
The key point my friend thing is to plan your gap year travel in a smart way, take your time, take months studying your options, and right any key dates around the country you are traveling + days that are key for you, like days for exams, b-days, etc.
Make a plan, stick with it and have fund.

Ok, so if you are planning to have a Gap Year in a Kibbutz, you will have a great time. Yes I know for sure the events in the Middle East have made it a difficult place to travel to. Israel, and with the never ending problems with Palestina, many travelers have decided not to go back to the Holy land. This is in fact sad, because it is an amazing country.
The Kibbutz are not new and they have been in existence for over 1 century.
An ‘experiment that worked’ was how philosopher Martin Bauber put it; it worked so well it’s still going strong.
On a kibbutz, you will work hard, almost eight hours a day, six days a week. Then you will have three extra 3 days off per month.
Now, pay attention, you need to be open minded and ready to work in any place doing almost anything .
The work may be in agriculture, in industry, kitchen, in tourism or kibbutz services.
So what is exactly a Kibbutz, well think of a mini little socialist country inside a country.
The kibbutz is a close knit unit with self-supporting services. A large number of the volunteers work in the services. The choice of jobs available depends on each local kibbutz, the season, the volunteer’s skills and the length of their stay. Please follow the Kibbutz category for more information about Gap Year in Israel and Kibbutz Gap Year

Do you think you are an open minded person? Cool, but if you are not very sure, you need to consider the religion and beliefs held by people in a particular country, specially where you are planning to take your gap year travel.
The religion of your Gap Year destination, strongly influences the overall feel of that country and the experience you will have. Don’t get my wrong, I believe it is fascinating to learn about a completely different cultural approach, I love a cultural challenge and to learn more about religions from all over the world, but it is important at all times to be respectful of the beliefs held by the people where you are staying. Remember this is your Gap Year and you should have fun, so think about this, if you are planning to have your Gap Year Travel, for example in India you should remember cover your shoulders and knees at all times while on your placements.
You see ? Little things like that are key for you to be safe and not get in trouble with locals. So before you go on your Gap Year package or gap year travel, you need to think and do a bit of research about your destination.

You need to think very well, the idea of a Gap year.
OK, read this, If you’re not ready to commit to your studies, definitely take a gap year.
Now, If you’re living with your family and don’t need to make a lot of cash, you may consider volunteering in various positions related to what you might study i the future. So if you want to a a marine biologist, consider may be working for a dive center, etc.
This will help you decide if the job is right for you and teach you a lot about working. This means, that if you don’t really like the volunteer job you do while doing your Gap Year, well, there is a huge chance you are in the wrong field.
It will also look good on your resume when you apply to college and later seek permanent employment. You can take short job, may be for half a year, and try to do other courses, travel, learn some language during your gap year.
Gap year are great, but you need to planned them well. Best of luck with your Gap Year ideas and traveling.
